Our Internal Account Manager Sam Carroll, helped ably by our technical team, worked with Boutique Sauces to identify a range of options to improve their label. After viewing a sample of Black Vellum material, that featured gold foil, they felt like they had found their brand’s new identity.

Black Vellum is a luxurious soft feel paper stock that is solid black and completely opaque on both sides of the material. This provides beautifully black die-cut edges that allow the label to seamlessly blend with the jar. The matched adhesive provides an improved resistance to moisture, making the material ideal for applications like refrigerated sauces, where condensation is a key consideration.

Boutique Sauces chose a gold foil to replace the gold ink previously used on their white paper labels. We recommended using a common foil block across all varieties to maximise this investment. The common block refers to foiling exactly the same information on each label so the same tool can be used across multiple varieties of the label series. In this case, Boutique Sauces chose to foil their logo and the star detail on each of their products.

We incorporated a key colour into the label design that was used to identify each type of sauce and paired this with white to print the product information. When printing the white ink on the black material, our digital team made sure the white was bright and opaque over the uncoated black stock, utilising the HP Indigo’s ability to lay down multiple passes of the same colour. 

Boutique Sauces also maximised their brand awareness by including a QR Code on the label which links to more information on their product range and retail store availability.

The labels were printed digitally, which was the perfect solution for the range which contained multiple variants of differing volumes.
