To minimise our impact on the environment Hally Labels has established policies, programs and practices to reduce risk to the environment and the organisation, and to also conduct business activities in an environmentally sound manner.
Our Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) chain of custody certification provides a framework for us to promote responsible forest management.
We also have chain of custody certification from the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™). We were the first label manufacturer in our region to achieve these chain of custody certifications, and have driven the development of certified papers within our supply chain.
Chain of custody certification is the mechanism used to ensure the traceability of wood material from a certified forest to any point along on the supply chain. Certification allows companies throughout the supply chain to label their certified products, which in turn enables consumers to identify and choose products that support responsible forest management.
Read more about the process of making a certified label on our blog where we share a handy infographic on Chain of Custody labels.
We have been a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) since 2013. The APC aims to change the culture of business to design more sustainable packaging, increase recycling rates and reduce packaging litter.
As part of our business's sustainability strategy and driven by our membership to the Australian Packaging Covenant we are committed to:
Additionally, we have made the following commitments for our packaging design and procurement:
As part of our memberships to the APC and PPSS we have implemented a range of initiatives to help our clients achieve their packaging sustainability goals. This is driven by our Sustainable Packaging Guidelines Label Checklist tool, which has been customised specifically for labels. Contact us for a free label audit to learn more about our checklist.
We have a strong focus on waste reduction, and we have implemented the following practices:
We’re excited to launch our latest project; our Hally Liner Recycling Program. The Program is open to our clients to help divert your waste liner from landfill for recycling. Download our flyer below to learn more.
We are committed to providing our customers with quality, fit for purpose products while meeting or exceeding expectations of sustainable performance. We offer a wide range of environmentally friendly label materials, learn more about our sustainable labelling solutions.
We are committed to providing responsible and sustainable printing practices to our customers. This commitment includes our use of carbon neutral HP Indigo presses in our factories, and working with HP Indigo press inks that have been certified for compostable packaging. We also offer linerless wraps and labels whereby the elimination of a liner reduces the residual waste of the labelling process.
We support four environmental charities every year that are in close proximity to our plants. In 2018/19 we are supporting Trees That Count in Auckland, Trees for Canterbury in Christchurch, Queensland Trust for Nature in Brisbane and Cumberland Land Conservancy in Sydney. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability our Brisbane and Sydney teams also participate in the annual Business Clean Up Day, under the Clean Up Australia Day banner.
At Hally Labels, we are proud to have once again supported Christchurch City Mission in 2018 as part of our community outreach program. Our Christchurch team rallied together to collect goods for the annual food and toy drive, and we thank everyone who so generously contributed. Christchurch City Mission work tirelessly to help over 9,000 families who are experiencing difficulty. Click here to find out how you can help.
