SIX golds at Pride in Print 2020
We’re thrilled to announce our wins at this years New Zealand Pride In Print Awards – SIX gold medals. Our achievements were across a broad spectrum of label categories including food & beverage, wine, promotional, luxury products and other. Two were printed by our Christchurch flexo print team and four by our Auckland digital print team. We also received nine Highly Commended awards. Well done to our print teams!
Our Christchurch print apprentice Ryan Scott-Fellows, as recipient of the BJ Ball Packaging Apprentice of the Year award, was a top five finalist for the overall Apprentice of the Year award which was also announced at Pride In Print. Whilst not the overall winner, we are extremely proud of Ryan’s achievements and his successful journey to become a fully trade-qualified printer. We were nominated as Training Company of the Year too, reflecting our commitment to the growth and development of our staff, and of the industry as a whole.
The Awards are a showpiece of the best standards in the industry and highlight the phenomenal work being produced by New Zealand printers. Whilst sadly the awards ceremony had to be cancelled this year, the virtual presentation was a fun way to celebrate the achievements within the New Zealand print industry. We are pleased to be amongst the winners yet again.
Our Auckland Operations Manager Jason Carroll was one of six new judges introduced to the awards this year, joining more than 40 others to pour over entries. On his judging experience Jason said “in the last five to 10 years there has been an ever increasing level of embellishment with more complicated labels being produced. There were some very good labels on the (judging) table that I saw.” (We should mention here that, of course, Jason wasn’t judging our work. All entries are de-identified and no conflicts of interest are allowed!)
